Why is it important for the food to go to the small intistines?
Good Day...
It is important for the food to go to the small intestines since the final process of digestion occurs in the intestine.
Our small intestine is divided into 3 parts - duodenum, jejunum, and ileum. The goal of the digestion is to get nutrients from the food that we eat.
Duodenum
- The stomach will deliver the process food (chyme) to duodenum.
- 90 % of chemical digestion occur.
- Most of the digestion will happen wherein liver, pancreatic, and gallbladder will secret chemicals to facilitate digestion.
- It prepares the food for absorption.
Jejunum
- 90% of absorption of nutrients occur.
- The jejunum receives the process food from the duodenum.
- after the jejunum the process food will be pass to ileum.
Ileum
- Receives the food coming from the jejunum.
- Absorption of important nutrients which was not absorbed in the jejunum.
Hope it helps....=)
